Upright, with glossy, dark green leaves of tropical appearance. Appealing, violet-blue flowers appear in terminal clusters throughout much of the summer. The ripe seeds are described in literature on edible native plants as being starchy and highly nutritious, and edible raw, roasted, or made into flour. For moist to (preferably) wet soil or shallow water, to about 12″ deep.
