Heterotheca villosa – Prairie Aster; Hairy Golden Aster

An excellent long-blooming perennial. Flowers persist from July to September. Very showy and perfect for use in borders or dry spaces. A perennial wildflower with a clumping habit. Hairy stems and bright yellow daisy-like flowers ¾ to 1½ inches across with many petals offer a Sage-like scent to the garden. Common in the Western US, where these plants can be seen often filling dry spaces. A superb drought-resistant, low maintenance plant that will readily self-seed.

Useful in native plant gardens, rock gardens, and sandy sites.

Plant in full sun. Prefers sandy, dry sites. Attractive to Bees and Butterflies.
